Africa vs The West

I recently came across this post on Facebook and it reminded me a lot about perspectives. In all honesty the African perspective is not always revered or noted as much as it should be, and to make matters worse what we learn in school doesn't always make us ware of the African perspectives. We end up indoctrinated by the West and we lose our sense of "African-ness". Not to diminish the seriousness or even eliminate the humanity in us in realising tragedies such as the holocaust were awful but its sad to realise that even more deaths go on to this current day in Africa. In this error of becoming global village, I find that it can be quite easy to fall into the trap of mourning losses of America, France, New Zealand and forgetting that everyday countless people are dying in Nigeria, in the Congo, even in Mozambique.
